2015 Diamond Fields Pinot Noir
The Diamond Fields site was planted in 2000 and is the first vineyard that we planted as
organic from the start. It produces very low yields of really ripe grapes with good colour
and fantastic flavours.
The 2014 vintage was the Soil association BOOM awards winner. At 11% alcohol, the
2015 is a touch lighter and more aromatic.
The 2015 Pinot Noir was made as naturally as possible with no filtration, limited use of
sulphur, no fining, whole berry fermentation including 10% of the stems in the ferment,
maturation in old oak barriques for 9 months.
The result is a dark colour and substantial body for a pinot Noir (especially an English
PN). lots of cherry fruit and a really long finish. It has a smooth balance without any
marked acidity and I expect it will age for a few years in bottle.
